The members of the ColoRotate team have always drawn outside of the proverbial lines. Their rainbow of talent, creativity, and innovation reflects their dedication to creating new technologies that are both useful and cool.
ColoRotate was born at the Institute for Dynamic Educational Advancement (IDEA), which researches, designs and implements technology to facilitate and broaden the learning process.
Michael Douma, General manager
Michael often finds himself standing at the intersection of science, art, and technology. An expert in user interface design and web-based interactive education, Michael says, "ColoRotate mimics the way the human mind senses and processes color, making it an extremely useful tool that also happens to be engaging and fun."
Viktor Goltvyanitsa, Lead software engineer
Viktor’s expertise in Flash Design and color modeling has paved the way for ColoRotate’s a graphical interface, which provides designers with an intuitive method of selecting colors. "It’s important to have a flexible interface that meets the needs of designers,” Viktor says. "With a few mouse clicks, they can create new color palettes and see how colors relate to one another." Viktor also developed a 2D Color Palette which currently ships with Adobe Fireworks.
Ovidiu Ancuta, Lead designer
Ovidiu is passionate about all forms of design, but is particularly fascinated by human-computer interaction. Thus, he has used a variety of graphic elements and color schemes to make ColoRotate accessible and functional. “In working on ColoRotate, I’ve been challenged to escape conventions and think outside of the box,” he says. “This is a tool that is meaningful to me as a designer, and one that I hope will inspire other designers to explore their creativity in new ways.“
Sean Liu, Software engineer
Sean’s enthusiasm for badminton and other sports is surpassed only by his connection to his family and his love for his wife and daughter. An expert in scalable architecture, Sean worked on the backend of ColoRotate. Thanks to his efforts, our palettes database is built on Google App Engine, enabling you to join ColoRotate using a Google account, and browse and search color palettes.
